Rolls Royce Tough Truck

This is what I’m talking about! In the General Lee 4×4 post, I asked for more cars on big-tired truck chassis, and Motorpasion already came through – twice! Though my one semester of Spanish isn’t quite enough to figure out what’s going on, I can appreciate such sights as the above Rolls Royce Tough Truckin’ it up.

I better be careful, otherwise I might want to do this to something in my garage.

The world of rc trucks has changed a lot over the years.  In times past, stadium style trucks like the Associated RC10GT have been very popular.  This stadium style is still available and still a lot of fun to drive, but the market has shifted more towards bigger monster type trucks.  Stadium trucks were generally designed for smooth dirt surfaces like groomed race tracks.  They are relatively low to the ground and are not well suited to very rough off road terrain.  In recent years however, the hobby industry focus has shifted more towards monster trucks with BIG wheels, BIG tires, and rugged designs that can survive abuse that other types of rc vehicles could never endure.

Modern Trucks

Modern rc trucks are miniaturized wonders of technology.  Some of the BIG models available now are not so "miniature"!  The advanced suspensions, the electronics, the high powered nitro engines (or high powered electric motors), amazing handling and performance, and realistic scale model looks really makes these exciting!   Sometimes when a modern radio control truck with a nicely finished body is photographed, it can look so realistic that one might thing they are looking at the real thing!  Check out the following picture to see an example of one of these.  In this case, this is an HPI Savage with an optional El Camino body.  Check out that blower sticking out of the hood.  You can almost hear the supercharger whine!

Today, the most popular of these models are the nitro engine powered type.  With a real fire breathing engine that screams at 30,000+ RPM, nitro remote control trucks offer the sights, sounds, smells, and excitement that many people want!
